Mala, Mantra & Japa Meditation

  • Thrive Yoga & Wellness 7633 E Brainerd Rd Chattanooga, TN 37421 USA (map)

Mala is the Sanskrit word for garland and contains 108 prayer beads knotted together along with counter beads and a guru bead. These sacred beads are used in the spiritual practice of Japa Meditation to count the number of times a mantra, which is a word or series of words invoking spiritual qualities, is recited in meditation. In this workshop we will dive into a deeper understanding of mantra and meditation and their benefits as well as learn how to make a mala and the significance behind them. Basic yoga philosophy will be covered during this fun, artistic and informative experience. Hours of this workshop are eligible for Yoga Alliance CEHs.
